Houston Dynamo Mike Chabala is being
featured in the NOH8 Campaign against Proposition 8, California's gay
marriage ban, My Fox Houston reported.
The twenty-six-year-old soccer player
posed with his mouth duct taped and “NOH8” written on one cheek.
The touring campaign, helmed by
photographer-activist Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley, was in
Houston on Tuesday.
Before going on to a public photo
shoot, the pair photographed Chabala inside the local Fox affiliate
studio.
Chabala, who joined Houston Dynamo in
2006, said he felt “honored” to participate in the campaign.
“Most importantly, it's not a
Republican issue or a Democratic issue,” Chabala told a reporter.
“It's simply a human rights issue. It's something this country is
based on and equality is everything.”
“I'm pretty happy to be here,” he
added.
Other famous faces involved in the NOH8
Campaign include: Isiah
Thomas, men's basketball coach of the Florida International
University Golden Panthers, and his son, Joshua Zeke Thomas,
actress Tori
Spelling and Cindy
McCain, wife of Arizona Senator John McCain, and their daughter
Meghan, a pro-gay Republican.
