Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet on ABC's comedy hit Modern Family
will someday get hitched, the New York Post reported.
The only question that remains,
Stonestreet said, is when.
“There is no doubt that is going to
happen,” he told the Post.
Stonestreet plays teddy-bearish
Cameron, who, along with his partner Mitchell, played by openly gay
Ferguson, are raising their daughter, Lily.
The Emmy nominated show, which is about
to begin its second season in the fall, takes place in California,
where gay marriage is banned. Stonestreet considered one option: a
destination wedding.
“Us going somewhere that gay marriage
is legal,” he said, then added that the producers need to “save
some of that stuff” for future seasons.
Saying it's “not the style of our
show,” producer Christopher Lloyd said that the show had
purposefully avoided “anything that feels overtly political,” but
wouldn't rule out a gay wedding in the show's future.
Lloyd, however, did confirm that the
couple will consider adopting a second child next season.
Season 2 of Modern Family
premieres on ABC September 22.
