Eye Peas female vocalist Fergie says she wishes President
Barack Obama would do more for gay marriage.
Appearing in the UK over the weekend at
the T in the Park music festival near the town of Kinross, Fergie and
band mates Taboo and apl.de.ap spoke to music
site NME.
The thirty-five-year-old Fergie told
the site that she believed Obama had helped restore America's image
abroad.
“I think Barack Obama definitely gave
a different perspective of America on other countries and I think in
terms of foreign relations he's really helped us and the way people
think about America,” she said.
Fergie, a California native, also said
Obama was a “great speaker.”
But she lamented that Obama does not
support gay marriage.
“But I wish he would do more for gay
marriages, though,” she added. “That's the one thing I want to
happen!”
Fergie joined The Black Eyed Peas in
2003 after the all-female group Wild Orchid disbanded in 2001. In
2006, her debut solo album, The Dutchess, spawned six hits for
Fergie, including Big Girls Don't Cry.
