Actor James Franco was spotted over the
weekend at Los Angeles gay pride.
Franco played Harvey Milk's gay lover,
Scott Smith, in the 2008 feature film Milk. The
highly-acclaimed movie about the San Francisco politician murdered on
the steps of City Hall was directed by openly gay Gus Van Sant.
Van Sant also executive produced Howl,
in which Franco plays quintessential beat generation poet and
pioneering gay rights advocate Allen Ginsberg. Howl is set to
open Outfest 2010, Los Angeles' annual LGBT film festival, in July.
Franco, in a San Francisco Giants hat
and a black jacket, said he was at Los Angeles gay pride Sunday with
Kalup Linzy, who often performs in drag, because the pair are
collaborating on Franco's anticipated return to ABC's General
Hospital, where he'll reprise
his role of Franco, the artist. Franco appeared in 10
episodes of the daytime drama in 2009. Linzy will follow Franco onto
the soap opera.
The 32-year-old Franco has previously
said he supports giving gay and lesbian couples the right to marry.
