Openly gay Massachusetts Congressman
Barney Frank is celebrating his 70th birthday Wednesday at home.
The hard-working congressman currently
chairs the House Financial Services Committee, which oversees the
housing and banking industries. A position he's held since 2007.
After approving a massive health care
bill, Congress went into recess and Frank returned to his district,
an office staffer told On Top Magazine.
The congressman was seen two weeks ago
at the Capitol with his current boyfriend, Jim Ready.
Frank is one of only three openly gay
representatives in Congress. The other two are openly lesbian Tammy
Baldwin of Wisconsin and freshman Jared Polis of Colorado. There are
no openly gay senators.
Last year, the first authorized
biography about the life of America's first openly gay representative
to be elected to Congress was publish by Harvard University Press.
Barney
Frank: The Story of America's Only Left-Handed, Gay, Jewish
Congressman by Stuart Weisberg was more than 5 years in the
making and is based on interviews with more than 150 people.
Happy 70th birthday, Barney
Frank!
