Lecturer and author of The Gay Moralist, Dr. John Corvino, to be the subject of a new documentary, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The indie documentary, titled A Non-Issue?, will focus primarily on the question of legalizing gay marriage in America.

Producers of the film believe now is the time to discuss gay marriage, saying that passage of Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage in California, vanquished “existing illusions that 2008 America is a 'post-gay' society, that sexual orientation is a 'non-issue', that the culture war is over.”

Corvino, 39, is a professor of philosophy at Wayne State University in Detroit. An openly gay man, Corvino lectures on the morality of being gay. His lecturers often employ humor to illustrate his philosophy.

“I realized that if I was going to address people's actual concerns I would have to address this argument [that the parts don't fit],” Curvino says in his lecture. “First response, yes they do. How do I know? Because if they didn't people would try it, it wouldn't work and they'd go do something else. I mean what's that scenario gonna look like? Oh my god, the parts don't fit! What are we going to do? I don't know, want to go bowling? Sure, this isn't working.”

Production is to start next year.
