Actress Jane Lynch has thanked Ellen
DeGeneres for making it easier for actors such as herself to come out
gay.
DeGeneres has said that Hollywood at
first rejected her after her 1997 announcement that she is gay.
She's now considered one of Hollywood's most bankable stars.
“The reason I can be openly
homosexual was because of Ellen DeGeneres,” Lynch said in a video
for the site Makers.com.
“It was like the spotlight was put on
her and she did it. She's a pioneer. She, like, busted down the
doors.”
“It's an amazing thing what's
happened with her. The reverberations are just huge for humanity.
It's huge,” she added of DeGenere's success.
The 55-year-old Lynch is best known for
her portrayal of Sue Sylvester on the Fox comedy-musical Glee.
