Jamie Clayton, who plays Nomi Marks In
Netflix's original series Sense8, recently praised series
co-creator Lana Wachowski.
Sense8,
a play on the word sensate, was created by Andy and Lana Wachowski
(The Matrix) and J.
Michael Straczynski.
Nomi is one one of
eight characters on the show who are coping with a new-found ability
to communicate with each other in a dimension that transcends
reality. She is also a lesbian transgender woman.
Clayton is also
transgender, as is Lana Wachowski.
“[Sense8]
is so unique,” Clayton
told GLAAD. “Empathy has never been shown like this. I wanted
to be a part of telling these characters' stories.”
“For Nomi
specifically, it's that her story isn't about her transition, her
transness. She just happens to be trans. Her story is about her
strength, courage and love. She has a job, a relationship, and now 7
special friends.”
“Nomi is a
survivor and a hero,” she added. “Just like Lana.”
