During an appearance Sunday on Meet
the Press, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz expanded on
his comments that America had seen one of its worst 24 hours with the
Supreme Court's rulings on marriage and Obamacare.
“Today is some of the darkest 24
hours in our nation's history,” Cruz said during an appearance last
week on The Sean Hannity Show.
“In a period of 24 hours we had two
decisions of the Supreme Court where a majority of the justices
violated their judicial oaths,” Cruz said Sunday. “In one, they
ignored the text of federal law, they rewrote Obamacare, forcing that
failed law on millions of Americans.”
“And the next day, five justices
disregarded the text of the constitution and purported to strike down
the marriage laws of all 50 states.”
Cruz added that he agrees with Justice
Antonin Scalia, who said in his dissents that the decisions are an
assault on Democracy.
“I think when the Supreme Court
violates their oaths and undermines the constitution, that is a grave
threat to our nation,” Cruz said.
