In a recent interview, singer Ricky
Martin wished Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana “enlightenment”
in response to their opposition to surrogacy.
The business partners and former lovers
behind the fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana created controversy
earlier this year when they criticized gay adoptions and called
children born through IVF “synthetic” in an interview with
Italy's Panorama.
Martin, who is gay and raising two
boys, responded during an interview with UK paper The Sun.
“I wish them lots of enlightenment,”
the
43-year-old pop star said. “Their voices are too powerful to
be spreading so much hate. I hope they analyze a bit to work out
what life really is about and what the future has for us …
Surrogacy is a beautiful process.”
On dating, Martin said: “I am single
now after seven years. I meet people. I'm fine. I meet very
handsome men.”
He added that his first priority was
his sons.
