Joey Graceffa, a popular YouTuber and
former Amazing Race contestant, came out gay in the music
video for his single Don't Wait,
which deals with bullying
The music video ends with Graceffa, who
has dodged rumors about his sexuality, kissing another man.
In a separate
video, Graceffa announced that he's gay.
“I did it in the music video in a way
that was not officially saying it because in a way I think it's not
necessary to have to say who you are. I wanted to do it a creative
way that was to me,” he said.
The video
for Don't
Wait has racked up more than 2.6 million views since its
Saturday release.
It coincides with the May 19 release of
Graceffa's new memoir, titled In Real Life: My Journey to a
Pixelated World.
In the book, Graceffa, 24, talks about
being the target of bullies while growing up in Marlborough,
Massachusetts.
“I'm proud to be who I am, and I'm
tired of hiding and being afraid to share certain experiences,” he
writes.
