Scott Turner Schofield has joined the
cast of the long-running CBS daytime soap The Bold and the
Beautiful.
Schofield will make television history
as the first transgender actor to play a major, recurring role on a
daytime drama when his character Nick makes his debut on May 8.
“Amazing how you can go from unknown
to 'famous' in a day,” Schofield
wrote on Facebook. “I am grateful to be able to help uplift
and honor transgender people in this moment. I had such help from my
communities, becoming me.”
“This moment is about every teacher
and artist who encouraged me to act despite biased casting; each
transperson and ally who attended my shows; and everyone in power who
acts [on] their beliefs in order to do something differently,” he
added.
Schofield has toured internationally
with his one-person shows: Underground TRANSit, Debutante
Balls and Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps.
