Out singer Sam Smith says that being
called fat stings more than being called faggot.
The 22-year-old Smith took home four
Grammys in February for his debut album In The Lonely Hour.
In an interview with Nine Network's 60
Minutes, Smith, who came out at 10, says he has more issues with
his weight than with his sexual orientation.
“Never had confusion in myself,”
Smith
said of his sexuality.
“If someone called me fat, that
affects me way more than someone calling me faggot. I think just
because I've accepted that. If someone calls me a faggot, it's like,
I am gay and I'm proud to be gay, so there are no issues. If someone
called you fat it's like, that something I want to change. That's
something I can change, so that affects me more.”
Smith added that “food has
controlled” him from “a young age.”
