Christian conservative pastor Rick Scarborough claims members of Congress are “lining up” to sign a document vowing to defy a Supreme Court ruling striking down gay marriage bans.

Scarborough, a vocal opponent of gay rights, told WND.com that once gay couples can marry in all 50 states, there will be mass arrests of Christians.

If such unions become legal, then the government “better have a lot of prisons and jails,” Scarborough said.

According to WND, Scarborough has joined with James Dobson of Family Talk Radio, Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel and James Robison of Life Today to write the statement.

“We're taking a very adamant stand,” Scarborough said. “If the court declares same-sex marriage to be on the same par as a civil right, that's a bridge too far. We won't obey. We'll go to jail.”

Members of Congress are “lining up to sign the document,” he said.

“We will simply refuse to comply with recognizing same-sex marriage as legitimate. The Supreme Court does not have the inherent right [to make that change]. We're going to continue doing what we've always done,” he added.
