Vice President Joe Biden will address
the nation's largest LGBT rights group this week.
Biden will headline the Human Rights
Campaign's (HRC) annual Spring Equality Convention on Friday in
Washington, D.C.
“Vice President Biden is an
incredible ally to the LGBT community and a strong advocate for
fairness and equality for all people,” HRC President Chad Griffin
said in a blog post. “He has played an integral role in the
administration's unprecedented legacy of progress for the LGBT
community and continues to be an important voice internationally for
equality. We are honored he'll be joining us to speak at our Spring
Equality Convention.”
Biden announced his support for
marriage equality in 2012, ahead of President Barack Obama. Within
days, Obama announced that he had “evolved” on the issue and now
supports same-sex marriage.
The HRC Spring Equality Convention
consists of training, workshops and a lobby day.
