Florida Senator Marco Rubio on
Wednesday criticized a federal judge's ruling striking down Florida's
ban on gay marriage.
Gay couples began exchanging vows on
Monday in Miami-Dade County and statewide on Tuesday, making Florida
the 36th state where gay couples can marry.

Rubio advised the state not to drop an
appeal in the case.
“First of all, I think [Florida
Attorney General Pam Bondi] should,” he
told reporters. “I don't know what decision she's made. I
think that issue is going to wind up before the US Supreme Court
either way.”
“I do not believe that there is a US
constitutional right to same-sex marriage. Now, as I've said before,
states have a right to change their laws. I don't believe it's
unconstitutional. I just don't believe there's a constitutional
right to it.”
Rubio, a possible 2016 GOP presidential
candidate, insisted “if it's going to be changed, it should be
changed through the political process, not through the judiciary.”
