A series of television commercials in
support of gay marriage will air Sunday and Monday in Texas.
Freedom to Marry will air ads in eight
of Texas' 20 markets, including Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin,
Beaumont, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Laredo, the Rio Grand Valley, Waco
and Wichita Falls, according to the Houston
Chronicle.
In the 30-second ad slated to run in
the Dallas area, Chris Gorrie, a Fort Worth detective, says that he
would like to be able to marry his partner.
“My partner, Justin, and I live
together,” Gorrie says in the ad. “Eventually, one day we'd like
to get married, just like everybody else.”
Three of Gorrie's colleagues also
appear in the ad.
“Texans believe in freedom and
liberty, and part of that is being able to marry who you love,”
Fort Worth Police Department Neighborhood Police Officer Jay Doshi
says. “So Chris should be able to marry whoever he loves.” (The

The $100,000 television buy comes just
days before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans hears
oral arguments in a case challenging Texas' ban on gay marriage.
The ads are part of the group's Texas
for Marriage campaign.
