Queen with guest frontman Adam Lambert
will help ring in 2015.
Queen and American Idol alum
Lambert will welcome the new year with a live performance before
2,000 fans at the Westminster Central Hall in London.
The concert will pause at the stroke of
midnight for the chimes of Big Ben and an annual fireworks display
over the Thames river.
Lambert toured with Queen last year and
tonight's performance will help kick off a new European tour.
Freddie Mercury, the group's vocalist,
died in 1991 from complications from AIDS.
Lambert has previously praised
Mercury's flamboyant showmanship.
“Freddie's voice has so much texture
to it,” he told NRP in 2010. “He kind of grabs at everything, he
squeezes it.”
“He was completely over the top in
the best possible way. Music, most of the time, is about sexuality,
whether you are straight, gay or in between. It's about love and
sex. That's rock 'n' roll,” Lambert said.
The BBC will stream tonight's concert
live starting at 6:15 PM ET at
