In the just-released comedy The
Interview Eminem satirically reveals that he's gay.
The Interview, which stars James
Franco as a television host and Seth Rogen as a producer who are
instructed to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un had a
limited Christmas Day release after a majority of theater chains
canceled screenings over fears of retaliation from North Korea. Sony
Pictures Entertainment made the film available for rental online on
Wednesday.
In one scene, host Dave Skylark (played
by Franco) is interviewing the rapper when Eminem explains, “When I
say things about gay people, or people think my lyrics are
homophobic, it's because I'm gay.”
“I'm just a little confused here,
because gay can mean a lot of things,” Skylark says.
“I'm a homosexual,” Eminem
responds.
“I'm more shocked that people haven't
figured it out yet. I mean, it's kind of like I've been playing gay
peek-a-boo,” he adds.
Eminem has previously argued that his
lyrics are not
anti-gay. In 2010, he
endorsed allowing gay couples to marry.
Other celebrities who appear in The
Interview as themselves include Rob Lowe, Bill Maher, Nicki
Minaj, Emma Stone, Zac Efron, Guy Fieri and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
