Out Los Angeles Galaxy defender Robbie
Rogers described his first time with another man in an interview with
men's fashion glossy GQ.
The 27-year-old Rogers debuted last
year with the LA Galaxy after coming out gay and announcing his
retirement from soccer. He recently signed a multi-year contract
extension with the team.
In an “en route” interview
conducted in the back seat of a limousine, Rogers said that his first
time was with a girl in high school.
“My first time with a girl was in
high school. I think it was my junior year of high school. Still
friends. It was actually all right, you know, I'm a gay guy. I
don't know how she enjoyed it or if she enjoyed it as much as me,”
Rogers said.
“First time with a guy was actually
not until I was 25, after I came out. Super awkward. I mean, can
you imagine dating and hooking up with a guy after your coming out,
after 25 years? I'm sure he was like, 'What is going on?'”
He added: “I think I've gotten a
little bit better at doing all that stuff, so hopefully those
embarrassing moments are over.” (The video is embedded on this
