Out actor Dan Bucatinsky has joined the
Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Americans for Marriage Equality
campaign.
“Marriage equality to me means not
just having the right to marry but knowing that my family is gonna be
protected,” Bucatinsky says in the 60-second ad. “And that's an
incredibly important thing to my husband Don [Roos] and me.”
The 49-year-old Bucatinsky is best
known for playing James Novak, a gay man, on the ABC drama Scandal.
He also starred in the 2011 romantic comedy All Over The Guy.
He can currently be seen on the HBO series The Comeback,
which he also executive produces, and NBC's Marry Me, in
which he plays a gay dad.
“Growing up I didn't ever really
imagine that I could one day dream for any of that. That one day I
could be married, have two amazing kids and play a guy on TV that's a
dad, that's married and happens to be gay just like me,” Bucatinsky
says.
“We need nationwide marriage equality
now for every kid and each and every one of their dreams,” he adds.
