Singer Annie Lennox says she doesn't
understand people who oppose gay rights.
The 59-year-old Lennox is currently
promoting her latest studio album, the two-disc Nostalgia.
“The whole key to Nostalgia is
about interpretation,” Lennox told NewNowNext Minute. “It's not
about covering things, because that would be easy, it's just like
reading a phone book.”
When asked to explain her connection
with the LGBT community, Lennox said she didn't understand opponents
of gay rights.
“I've never understood why people
have to be bigoted against others because of their sexual
orientation, their race, or their skin color,” she answered. “It's
never been something that I've ever understood, because I think we're
all born on this planet and we all must get along together.” (The
