Singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton has joined the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Americans for Marriage Equality campaign.

In a 45-second clip released Thursday, the 34-year-old Carlton, who came out bisexual in 2010 while headlining Nashville Pride, says she supports marriage equality because “love is love.”

“This December my husband and I will celebrate our one year wedding anniversary,” Carlton says. “And it's been an amazing year. And even more exciting 'cause we have a baby on the way.”

“But it doesn't keep me from thinking about my gay and lesbian friends who still cannot commit to each other through marriage.”

“What if I had met the right woman, instead of the right man? Love is love and we need nationwide marriage equality now,” she adds. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
