Amazon.com has renewed Transparent
for a second season.
The show's 10-episode first season
debuted September 26 on Amazon Prime, the online retailer's streaming
service.
The original series created and
directed by Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under, United States of Tara),
stars Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development) as Moira, a
transgender woman. Moira's adult children are played by Gaby
Hoffmann, Jay Duplass and Amy Landecker, whose character is either
bisexual or gay. Judith Light and Carrie Brownstein also appear on
the comedy-drama.
According to Amazon, Transparent
is its most binge-watched TV series.
“We are absolutely thrilled that the
response to Transparent has been so positive,” Roy Price,
vice president of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. “Our goal
is to create series that customers love, so it's great to hear that
Transparent has not only risen to the no. 1 series on Prime
Instant Video, but that it's deemed 'binge worthy' as well. Given
all this great feedback, it only makes sense to bring the Pfeffermans
back next year in season two.”
