Nick Jonas last week said his former boy band Jonas Brothers could have done more to acknowledge gay fans.

Jonas recently appeared at a number of gay clubs in New York to promote his new single Jealous.

The actor-singer also recently hinted that his character in the upcoming DirecTV series Kingdom could be gay or bisexual.

Jonas told Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen that he has several sex scenes in Kingdom, which revolves around a gym for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competitors in Venice Beach.

On Friday, NewNowNext.com quoted Jonas as saying that Jonas Brothers should have worked harder to reach its gay fan base.

“I grew up doing theater here in New York, surrounded by [the gay community] and loving it at a young age,” he said. “When my brothers and I started touring and had some success, naturally they became a pretty big part of our following. I don't know that we ever did enough to really own that.”

“I really want to make an effort to embrace the community with open arms,” he added.
