Laverne Cox will have a recurring role
on the second season of MTV's Faking It.
The comedy centers on two teens who
fake being a lesbian couple in order to gain popularity. The only
problem is that one of the girls isn't so sure she's faking it.
Amy (played by Rita Volk) and Karma
(Katie Stevens) are unpopular at Hester High, despite their best
efforts. When the best friends are mistakenly outed as lesbians at a
party thrown by Shane (Michael Willett), their popularity soars.
They continue the charade to remain in the school's “in” crowd.
Cox, who plays a transgender character
on Netflix's hit comedy Orange is the New Black, made history
earlier this year as the first transgender actress to be nominated
for an Emmy Award.
In Faking It, Cox plays Margot,
a demanding drama club director at Hester High, according to
Entertainment
Weekly.
Cox also will guest-star on Bravo's new
series Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce.
Faking It season 2 premieres
Tuesday, September 23.
