Actors Neil Patrick Harris and Benedict
Cumberbatch have accepted the ice bucket challenge in support of the
ALS Association.
The group's #IceBucketChallenge helps
raise awareness and funds to help in the fight to find a cure for
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as Lou Gehrics Disease), a
neurodegenerative disease.
Siting on the stoop of his New York
brownstone surrounded by his family – partner David Burtka and
3-year-old twins Harper and Gideon – Harris says he was nominated
by Jayma Mays, Beck Affleck and Cookie Monster and in turn dared
David Franco, Christina Hendricks and his “nemesis” Nathan

The New York Times reported on
Friday that the ice bucket challenge has raised over $41.8 million.
Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays gay
mathematician Alan Turing in the upcoming film The Imitation Game,
is doused in ice water in 5 different scenarios in a
short 3-minute film he posted online.
