Former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland is
scheduled to headline an upcoming marriage equality rally.
On August 6, the Cincinnati-based Sixth
Circuit Court of Appeals will hear appeals in cases challenging gay
marriage bans in Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky.
The cases will be heard back-to-back on
the same day.
On the eve of oral arguments,
supporters will hold what is being described as “the largest
marriage equality rally ever in Ohio.”
Strickland, a Democrat, will headline
the event, which will be held at Lytle Park in downtown Cincinnati.
“With one federal appellate ruling
already in the bag, we remain more confident than ever that the days
of Ohio's marriage ban are numbered,” Michael Premo, campaign
manager for Why Marriage Matters Ohio, said in a statement. “But
in order to win, we must show the courts that Ohio and the country is
ready for the freedom to marry.”
