LGBT rights pioneers includes scores of celebrities, politicians,
activists and musical artists.
coincides with the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court's
decision striking down a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act
Former President Bill Clinton, who
signed DOMA into law, will honor Edie Windsor, who challenged the
law, and Roberta Kaplan, the lawyer who represented Windsor.
“Seventeen years after signing DOMA
into law, I was honored and grateful to be among the voices urging
that it be overturned,” Clinton said in a statement. “The
decision would not have happened without Edie Windsor's dogged
determination to right a wrong and Roberta Kaplan's equal commitment
to simple fairness. As marriage equality spreads across the states,
the number of people impacted by these two amazing women will only
continue to grow.”
Lance Bass will honor Brooklyn Nets
player Jason Collins, the NBA's first openly gay player.
Also being honored is the cast of the
Netflix hit series Orange is the New Black.
Trailblazers will be hosted by
Daniel Radcliffe and feature a performance from A Great Big World.
Also scheduled to appear on the show are Tegan and Sara, Ed Sheeran,
Jared Leto, Kylie Minogue, Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea,
Tyler Glenn and Mary Lambert.
