The National Organization for Marriage
(NOM) announced last week that Mike Huckabee will be a featured
speaker at its upcoming March for Marriage.
Opponents of marriage equality will
gather for a morning rally on June 19, 2014 at the Capitol Building
in Washington, D.C., followed by a march to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The 58-year-old Huckabee served as
governor of Arkansas between 1996 and 2007. In 2008, he mounted an
unsuccessful bid for the White House as a conservative Republican.
He currently is the host of Fox News' Huckabee.
A vocal opponent of gay rights,
Huckabee rallied behind Chick-fil-A's Dan Cathy after the CEO
received a backlash for speaking out against marriage equality and
recently called for the ouster of the judge who ruled Arkansas'
marriage ban invalid.

“Governor Huckabee has been a
consistent leader and a strong voice for pro-family values in our
country for years,” said
NOM President Brian Brown. “We are thrilled that he will be
joining us for the March for Marriage, which promises to be a
historic success. We have a great line-up for the rally, and the
response from supporters around the country has been overwhelming and
very positive.”
“We're going to show the media elites
and those in public office that the American people still stand for
marriage,” he added. “We're going to show people around the
nation – especially young people – that there's no reason for
shame or cause for fear in standing for this essential truth.”
Additional speakers expected at NOM's
march include San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, New York
State Senator Ruben Diaz, Pastor Jim Garlow, La Manif Pour Tous
President Ludovine de la Rochere, author Ryan T. Anderson and
American Values President Gary Bauer.
