pride this year in San Francisco. In the middle of the Summer of
Love, there is Pride.
San Francisco celebrates its 38th
annual GLBT Pride parade and festival next weekend. While the big
parade and festival remain the big draw, here's a look at other pride

Friday, June 20th
Pride Picnic: The Rainbow
Community Center invites all LGBT families, friends and supporters to
this picnic in Larkey Park (near the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in
Walnut Creek). Event features swimming, a playground, Frisbees,
hiking and relaxing at Larkey Park, 2751 Buena Vista Ave., Walnut
Creek. A $5 entrance fee is being requested. 2-7PM. More info:

Gale Concert: The Golden Gate
Men's Chorus summer concert series continues with the West Coast
premiere of David Del Tredici's “Queer Hosannas” at the San

Chaps II: The Leather Pride
Contingent, Leather Alley and Kelly Hart host the opening of Chaps

Pride Concert: Celebrate the
30th anniversary of the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom
Band. Event spotlights the late music pioneer Jon Reed Sims and is
co-hosted by the Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco and San
Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. Concert includes gospel, world, jazz an
cabaret music along with appearances by past conductors and
historical slide shows at First Unitarian Universalist Church of San

Asian Pride: Asian and Pacific
Islander grand marshals host this Pride party. Special guests

Friday, June 27th
Girlpride: San Francisco's party
for girls. DJs and go-go dancers, plus a midnight stage dance

Pride Brunch: This 10th
annual event hosted by Gary Virginia and Donna Sachet honors the
grand marshals of the Pride Parade and benefits Positive Resource

Festival: A noontime festival at

Pride Parade and Festival: The
parade along Market Street is set to feature grand marshals Cyndi
Lauper, Charo and Harvey Milk's nephew Stuart Milk and begins at
10:30AM. Festival to begin at noon at the Civic Center Plaza.
Entrance is free ($5 donation). Grandstand general-seating tickets

Cindy Lauper Concert: Cindy
