Actress Jodie Foster and artist
Alexandra Hedison married over the weekend.
According to E!
News, which broke the story, the women started dating last year.
Born in Los Angeles, California, the
44-year-old Hedison is the daughter of Bridget and David Hedison, the
actor best known for playing Captain Lee Crane in Irwin Allen's TV
series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
Hedison, a Los Angeles-based
photographer, is also a former actress, appearing on Showtime's
groundbreaking lesbian drama The L Word.
Foster, a 51-year-old Oscar winner,
ended a 20-year relationship with Cydney Bernard, with whom she has
two sons, in 2008.
In accepting lifetime achievement
honors at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, Foster
thanked Bernard in a rambling speech that touched on coming out.
“I already did my coming out about a
thousand years ago, back in the Stone Age. In those very quaint days
when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends, and
family, coworkers and then gradually, proudly, to everyone who knew
her,” she said in accepting the group's Cecil B. DeMille Award.
