Cabler TV Land has reportedly given a
cast-contingent pilot order for a comedy series about a con artist on
the run who pretends to be a gay priest.
According to Deadline.com,
the series, titled Impastor, is from veteran comedy writer
Christopher Vane (The Love Boat, Suddenly Susan, Wings, Good Luck
Charlie).
“It centers on a low-life on the run
from his debts who hides away in a small town by conning them into
thinking he's their newly hired gay pastor,” Deadline.com wrote
about the show's premise.
Impastor
will be executive produced by Vane and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum of
Tannenbaum Co.
TV Land last year canceled
Fran Drescher's Happily Divorced after two seasons.
In the show, Drescher played a florist who divorced her husband of
18 years after finding out he's gay.
