Premium cable network HBO has released
a second trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of The Normal
Heart, Larry Kramer's Tony-winning AIDS play.
The film, which HBO will premiere
Sunday, May 25, features an all-star cast, including Mark Ruffalo,
Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Jim Parsons and Julia Roberts.
Ryan Murphy (Glee, Eat Pray Love)
directed the feature length film, which is based on a script written
by Larry Kramer (Women in Love).
Ruffalo – a co-star of the 2010
lesbian moms flick The Kids Are Alright – will tackle his
first gay role playing Ned Weeks, the hero of Kramer's play about the
early days of the AIDS pandemic in New York City.
In the 45-second trailer, Roberts'
character of Dr. Emma Brookner declares: “I've never seen or heard
of anything like this.”
In another shot, Weeks is seen being
carted away from City Hall screaming: “This is lunacy. You must of
heard about it. We need your help badly.” (The video is embedded
