Two women competing in a cooking
contest last week revealed that they are gay and committed to each
other.
Tresne Middleton, 29, and Carly
Saunders, 32, stars of the Australian network Channel 7's My
Kitchen Rules, initially appeared on the reality show as best
friends.
The couple went public with their
relationship in an exclusive interview with New Idea magazine.
Photos of the happy couple as they celebrated a 2012 commitment
ceremony accompanied the story.
The women told SunriseOn7 that their
decision to publicly come out was not something that was planned but
that happened “organically.” (The video is embedded on this

On Monday, the women lost a cook-off on
the show and were ousted.
“It hasn't been easy,” Saunders, a
school teacher, said
Monday of coming out. “Some of the public has been, oh I don't
know, nasty. We're trying to be really positive about it but yeah it
hasn't been that easy.”
“Realistically, we think we made the
right choice. There's been a bit of backlash. … We don't like the
L-word, by the way.”
