Duck Dynasty star Willie
Robertson has defended the anti-gay comments made by his father Phil
Robertson.
In an interview with CNN's Kyra
Phillips, Robertson was asked to comment on the controversy which
erupted over remarks the patriarch of the A&E hit reality show
made in an interview last year to GQ magazine.
Phil told the men's fashion glossy that
gay sex was an “illogical” sin.
“Don't be deceived. Neither the
adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual
offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers –
they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's
not right,” Phil Robertson said.
“It seems like, to me, a vagina –
as a man – would be more desirable than a man's anus. That's just
me. I'm just thinking: There's more there! She's got more to offer.
I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin:
It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical.”
In defending his father, Willie
Robertson suggested that the interviewer had an agenda.
“I remember doing that interview and
this guy I think he already had what he wanted to put and he was
certainly asking specifically this and that and Phil just said what
he thought, you know, what was on his heart. He did some
paraphrasing there,” Robertson said.
Phillips clarified that Phil
paraphrased the book of Corinthians “where it talks about
homosexuals, male prostitutes, drunkards ...”
“Thieves,” Willie suggested.
“Yeah, thieves. That they're all the
same. Is that what you believe?”
“That's what First Corinthians says.
… I believe what the Bible says.”
“And for him [Phil] and for you, the
Bible is literal. That's how it is,” Phillips stated.
Robertson agreed: “That's how it was
said.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
