The father of one of the two women found dead last week in Houston was arrested on Thursday.

The bodies of Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson, both 24, were found last week on the Bolivar Peninsula next to a dumpster behind a store. According to the Houston Chronicle, the women began dating in 2012.

James Larry Cosby, 46, is charged with two counts of tampering with evidence. Deputies said the charges could be upgraded to capital murder but declined to elaborate.

Investigators believe the women were killed elsewhere and their bodies were moved. Jackson died from a gunshot and Cosby from blows to her head.

Britney Cosby and her father were living under the same roof – the house of Britney's great-grandmother, Annie Cosby, who denied accounts that James had a hard time accepting that his daughter was gay.

“I never saw them having a misunderstanding or anything like that,” she said.

Cosby is being held in the Galveston County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
