Engaged couple Lance Bass and Michael Turchin have joined a campaign to increase awareness of gay marriage in the South.

The 34-year-old former 'NSyncer and his fiance both grew up in Mississippi.

“People really do support gay marriage,” Bass says in the nearly 3-and-a-half minute video. “They really do. I mean, we're here. Our feet are planted here in Mississippi and we can tell you by experience that there's tons of support down here. It's just that confusion.”

“I think everyone down here deserves that freedom to marry. That freedom to love who you want to love. And that's much supported down here,” he added. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

The ad is part of a $1 million multi-state campaign to build majority support for marriage equality in the South. The campaign, titled Southerners for the Freedom to Marry, includes co-chairs representing 13 southern states.
