As the first season of HBO's Looking neared the finish line on Sunday, the relationships of the show's three main characters all took a turn for the worse.

Sunday's episode, titled Looking for a Plus-One, delivered a heart wrenching gut punch to viewers as one relationship after another appeared to come to a screeching end.

And with only the season finale to go, mending fences will likely be put off until the show's return.

In the episode, Patrick (played by Jonathan Groff) and Richie (Raul Castillo) quarrel on their way to the wedding of Patrick's sister. Patrick blames his boyfriend's absence on his mother's disapproval.

“Every guy I've been on a date with, I judge him based on what you're going to think of him. And it's really fucking me up,” Patrick tells his mother.

“I don't think you can blame me for Richie. If he's not here, it's on you sweetie,” she counters.

The business relationship/friendship between Dom (Murray Bartlett) and Lynn (Scott Bakula) is severed under the strain of attempting to open a pop-up restaurant, which Lynn is funding.

The biggest heartbreak is the breakup of boyfriends Agustin (Frankie J. Alvarez) and Frank (O.T. Fagbenle) over Agustin's dishonesty.

In a preview for Sunday's season finale, Patrick, Dom and Agustin are seen reaching out to those they've hurt and either hearing nothing or being turned down. (The video clip is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
