In criticizing 2 Mississippi towns for
approving resolutions recognizing LGBT residents, Christian
conservative Bryan Fischer compared gay sex to intravenous drug use.
Hattiesburg this week joined Starkville
in approving non-binding resolutions recognizing the dignity and
worth of all city residents, including its lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender citizens.
Fischer, spokesman for the
Mississippi-based American Family Association (AFA), called for the
removal of the city council members who voted in favor of the
resolutions.
“It's very clear that homosexual
conduct is as risky to human health as intravenous drug use,”
Fischer
told AFA's own OneNewsNow. “I don't think there's any way in
the world that the Hattiesburg City Council is going to draft an
ordinance that promotes intravenous drug use. Why? Because it's
risky to human health. They should have taken the same position on
homosexual behavior.”
Fischer called on residents to “do
something about it,” meaning the councilors who voted for the resolutions.
