Seattle Police on Saturday arrested a
man they suspect of attempting to burn down a gay nightclub on New
Year's Eve.
More than 700 people were celebrating
on January 1 when a man poured gasoline over a staircase inside
Neighbours, a local gay bar, and lit it on fire.
Seattle Police said they arrested
30-year-old Musab Mohamed Masmari on Saturday as he made his way to
the airport.
According to King
5, Masmari has been interviewed by detectives and booked into the
King County Jail.
Capitol
Hill Seattle reported that Masmari's Facebook profile lists
Benghazi, Libya as his hometown and that he has held a U.S. passport
since at least 2010.
The outlet added that Masmari could be
the man shown in grainy black and white security footage lugging what
appears to be a large plastic container with a handle.
Masmari has a history of run ins with
the law and was scheduled to appear in court Monday in connection
with an unrelated assault charge.
