Joel Osteen of the Houston megachurch Lakewood has reiterated his view that being gay is a sin.

The 50-year-old Osteen, who is currently pitching his latest book Break Out: 5 Keys to Go Beyond Your Barriers and Live an Extraordinary Life, was asked his views on the subject during an interview with Larry King.

“I believe that Scripture says that it's a sin,” Osteen told King. “But I always follow that up by saying, 'You know what, we're not against anybody.'”

“But if you're calling it a sin. How can it be a sin, if we don't know what causes it? You don't know why you're heterosexual,” King asked.

“No,” Osteen answered. “And there's a lot of things, Larry, that I don't understand. I don't preach on it. I don't preach about it. It only comes up during the interviews.”

“Does gay marriage annoy you?” King asked.

“No, it doesn't annoy me. From a scriptural point of view, I don't think it is what my faith would teach. But it doesn't annoy me.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
