Taiwanese pop star A-mei put on a free
performance last Sunday in support of a bill that seeks to legalize
gay marriage in Taiwan.
According to state-run Central
News Agency (CNA), the free outdoor concert held in Taipei's
Creative Park attracted close to 20,000 fans.
“I heard that someone brought their
parents here,” the 41-year-old singer told the crowd. “That's
right. We are here today to let everyone, including our parents,
know about our love.”
A-mei, the first entertainer to sign a
petition in support of the marriage bill, paid the concert's
