Singer Ricky Martin has said that he
would love to marry in Spain.
Two years ago, Martin secured
citizenship in Spain, where gay marriage was legalized in 2005,
fueling rumors that he was preparing to marry boyfriend Carlos
Gonzalez in that country.
“If I were to get married, I would
love to do it in Spain. There is spectacular scenery for a big
wedding,” Martin told Spanish
news agency EFE ahead of a return visit to Madrid.
Martin, who was born in Pueto Rico,
added that his request to the Spanish government was “a question of
identity.”
“I need to go back to give my
children the answer to who we are and where we come from,” Martin
said, a reference to his Spanish grandmother.
Martin, 41, announced he's gay in 2010.
The former Menudo star and father of two is currently a judge/coach
on Australia's singing contest The Voice.
