Director-producer-actor-dancer Adam
Shankman has entered rehab.
A representative for the 49-year-old
openly gay Shankman gave a statement to US Weekly.
“Adam Shankman is currently seeking
treatment in a rehabilitation center,” the statement read. “His
friends and family support him and wish him well on his journey to
recovery.”
Shankman's last tweet to his nearly
286,000 followers was an instagram photo of himself and Lee Lynch,
Darren Criss and Adam Lambert from Sunday's TrevorLIVE fundraiser in
Los Angeles.
(Related: Adam
Lambert, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Kathy Griffin at TrevorLIVE.)
Shankman, a former judge on the reality
series So You Think You Can Dance, has directed several
feature films, including the 2007 remake of Hairspray, High
School Musical, Rock of Ages and The Wedding Planner,
and episodes of Glee and Modern Family.
When asked on the red carpet at
TrevorLIVE about his holiday plans, Shankman
was vague: “I am actually definitively not telling people. I'm
vanishing. I'm going away.”
