A gay male couple got engaged at the
Frying Pan on Manhattan's West Side with the help of a flashmob
dancing to Nina's 99 Red Balloons.
Lance was led to believe he and
boyfriend Harry were at the restaurant to celebrate a friend's
birthday.
Instead, Harry prodded him along as
they followed the dancers. Lance resisted – “Why is he taking
our picture?” he asked – but Harry insisted before being swept
away by the crowd. On the restaurant's top deck, the dancers
released dozens of red balloons, then parted as Harry, holding a red
balloon, made his way to this boyfriend.
“I've loved you since the moment I
kissed you,” Harry said. “You make me laugh. You make me happy.
You complete me. So, will you marry me?”
A confused and bewildered Lance
replied, “What the fuck is this? I mean it's a fucking altered
reality.”
“Oh, my god,” he screamed as Harry
produced an engagement ring.
“Well, yeah, hello!” he finally
