Gay icon Cher last week appeared in person to accept UK gay glossy Attitude's Legend Award.

In accepting her award during a ceremony at the Royal Courts of Justice, she explained why she thinks gay men love her.

“It seems like I've always had gay people in my life,” Cher said. “The first ones I ever met, I was nine years old and my mother had these two friends that came over. And the first time I saw them, they were hairdressers, of course, they came cha-cha-ing into our front door. And I thought that, in the beginning I actually thought that gay was code for fun.”

“Gay men especially, they either love you or they don't even notice that you're on the planet.”

“I think what they like, I think what you guys like, is you like a strong woman that's having a breakdown constantly. And that certainly is me,” Cher said. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
