Police in Moscow arrested a small group
of activists protesting Russia's campaign against LGBT people.
According to Russian site Grani.ru,
six activists marched through the Russian capital on Sunday carrying
a banner which read: “Hitler also began with the gays. No to
fascism in Russia.”
The activists were protesting two
recently enacted laws and a proposed law which seeks to deem gay men
and lesbians unfit to parent. Russia's “gay propaganda” law,
enacted in June, prohibits the public promotion of gay rights to
minors. Its passage has provoked worldwide protests and calls for a
boycott of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Some passersby are seen in raw footage
released by Grani.ru initially defending the activists.
“You can't act like that,” an older
woman tells the officers.
But when she's told what the activists
are protesting, the woman says, “Ohhhhhh no. Then no.”
“Hitler started with the gays,” a
protester says.
“This is the decline of morality,”
she
responds. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
