Singer Katy Perry told Australian Liberal Party leader Tony Abbott
that he can't have her vote because he's opposed to gay marriage.
Perry, 28, appeared on Australia's the Kyle
and Jackie O Show to promote her latest single Roar.
When Abbott asked Perry when she was returning to Australia, Perry
responded: “Ah, c'mon that's not a political question, let's talk
about gay marriage.”
“And now you're interviewing me, Katy,” Abbott said.
“Yeah, that's right. Love is equal, wooooooo!” Perry
exclaimed.
Jackie explained to Perry that Abbott, who is hoping to become the
nation's next prime minister, opposes such unions.
“Yeah, well, I love you as a human being but I can't give you my
vote then,” Perry replied.
Abbott said that his daughters “would be so excited to meet
you.”
“Let me just say that I'll be in Australia very soon and I will
say that it's this year,” Perry said.
