Deal-of-the-day website Groupon on Friday endorsed gay marriage in Illinois.

Chicago-based Groupon announced its support in a 2-minute video released on YouTube.

“We are Groupon and we are proud of being part of a diverse community of customers, merchants and employees,” a man is heard saying in the video. “We work better when everyone, including our LGBT co-workers, can bring their whole selves to work every day. That is why we support marriage equality.”

“I support marriage equality because there was a time not too long ago where by the way that I look marriage inequality was a-okay,” an African-American female employee says.

A female employee says that she is just waiting for the law to change to marry her fiancee.

“I proposed to my girlfriend … So, we are engaged, but now we are waiting for Illinois to say yes,” the woman says. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

A gay marriage bill stalled in the Illinois House after passage in the Senate earlier this year. The bill's sponsor has pledged a vote on the measure when lawmakers return in the fall.
